Knowing where your assets are
Background
Before you can successfully manage your assets you really need to know what assets you’ve got and where they are. Our client, one of the largest soft drinks manufacturers in the UK, have more than 250,000 assets spread across retail and leisure outlets.
A project was set up to enable the company to identify, manage and control an £80m asset base and reduce write-offs by £2m p.a. The key enabler to this was to introduce Asset Marking – bar coding & data capture of all their assets

What Verdandi did
Verdandi provided a delivery expert who acted as the Business Analyst for the project and who partnered the project leader throughout the project. This provided valuable project management know-how and experience.
The Asset Marking project involved the definition, analysis and delivery of the following:
Working with a combination of client IT teams, end users and external suppliers, software was designed and developed to enable the field based service engineers to remotely log assets via bar codes and census check them on subsequent visits – the key factor in managing these assets.
The project has enabled the bar coding and data capture of all relevant assets including vending machines, chiller cabinets and soft drinks dispensers in pubs and clubs.

Achievements
The successful completion of the project has allowed our client’s service engineers to barcode equipment and has crucially automated the inventory process.
The project was seen as a significant success by its sponsor and stakeholders. Verdandi were acknowledged as being a major driver of its success.
It subsequently gained public acclaim in the national press.
